Create a new old.

Something that at first glance, a viewer is convinced of origins from a time period before its creator's existence.

In other words, something that appears to have been fashioned before you were alive.

some links to consider:

Joel Peter Witkin - photography

Tom Waits - music

Decasia by Bill Morrision - film

Fashion Era - resource site

All posts pertaining to this theme are due November 1st, 2007

So I had to go with a WIP post for this month's theme due to my over-complication of every idea that I ever have. Someone else speak up and say this happens to you too?

This is a test for a much larger animation project. The idea of the sea and how it is always moving and slowly destroying the shores that contain it and the objects in it led me to see images of distortion and degeneration and disintegration. They say that even the massive ship body of Titanic will have been eaten away in 80 or so more years.

The images you see below are in the process of being
(cheaply) printed on 8.5x11paper. Basically i see
these crummy images of myself, and my restless sleep of the past few months, as flotsam or jetsam.
You (and i) can decide which when it is all done. of course it will make some sense in context!

more about where this is going...Collapse )

Thoughts & ideas & laughter appreciated.

Also, any volunteers for a one-day beach shoot? No animating experience needed & i'll buy you lunch.

Hello! This is my first post to here because I'm not good at Livejournal and am too busy to ever get on here. I currently live in a small Arkansas town. I like to knit, do paper crafts (valentines, cards, etc.), and take photos. I have a bachelor's in photojournalism, but really need to work on my technical skills with both cameras and photoshop.

here is my latest post to my photo journal on flickr - www.flickr.com/photos/cherryvalentino

i think that's the address.

Make of it what you will.  This is my interpretation of the phrase, in basic form and metaphorically speaking, I suppose.  Let me know what you think.

Here's a script I've been working on for a couple of months.  I re-wrote it in a two day period last week, so please excuse any errors I may have typed in without catching.  Any comments are welcome, good or bad.  The dialogue can be changed, for the most part.  I'm not very confident in my dialogue writing skills.  When making movies, I usually let the actors read over the lines and then go with what they feel the character would do, as opposed to what I wrote down.

Also, I have still been unable to come up with a damn title to this thing.  Any ideas are welcome.  I'll come back and fix the rest of the formatting later when I have more time.  Fixing this is slow, slow going.

Also, it won't let me post the entire script, so here's part one.

My name is Brandon. I specialize in music (though I draw as well). I play guitar, bass, keyboards, and sing in a band called lifelikepictures. Josh (my drummer) and I are influenced by Bark Psychosis, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Bjork, Blur, the Cure, Dirty Three, Disco Inferno, the Eels, the Flaming Lips, Godspeed! You Black Emporor, Hood, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Joy Division, Low, Mazzy Star, Modest Mouse, My Bloody Valentine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the Pixies, Radiohead, Slowdive, the Smashing Pumpkins, the Smiths, Sonic Youth, Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, the Stone Roses, the Stooges, the Swirlies, the Velvet Underground, and Yo La Tengo (as well as several other bands).

Just added an unfinished song to our My Space (link provided above) that I worked on last night. It's our first real experimentation with a keyboard dominated song (most of our other stuff is guitar based).
